According to an international survey, low price is not the actual reason why people shop online. Surprised? Read on to know what the actual reason is.
It is mostly believed that people prefer to shop online than buy from a retail store because the prices of the products on these online shopping sites are quite low. However, that is not true. This fact is based on a survey conducted by a global consultancy firm.
There are a few retailers all over the world who are trying to sell their products at the lowest prices possible to win the game against online shopping players especially during the peak holiday season. The consultancy firm feels that the retailers will regret this step in the long run.
One must constantly keep a track of the moves of the country’s biggest national retailers and online retailers to unveil that one thing which satisfies the shoppers.
In India, Amazon is trying to woo the customers by introducing something called as Amazon Fulfilled. It is a delivery system which promises one day delivery for select products. Amazon’s strategy to take on the national retailers is bang on as faster delivery is a real challenge most online retailers are facing. On the other hand, Flipkart comes up with seasonal offers and special shopping days where a person gets to shop branded products at really low prices which will satiate the hunger of online shoppers.
If you dig deeper, the real reason why people buy stuff from Amazon, Flipkart and Snapdeal is not only because they sell products at lowest prices. It is because they have satisfied with the customers with faster delivery and ease of shopping.
There is a big lesson for the retailers from the current scenario. The retailers must stop using ‘lowest prices’ as a tool to hide their weakness like product quality or quick delivery. Be it online retailers or offline stores, the goal must be to rectify the issues that a particular brand is facing rather than simply introducing sale days or offering best deals every now and then.
Well, this also doesn’t mean that low prices do not matter to the shoppers; that could be the first driver but the other vital factors should also not be ignored.
As per the international survey, some people shop online only when the products of their favourite brand are offered on low prices and some shop online when there is a sale. They could buy anything right from clothes to home utility items, beauty products etc.
When it comes to grocery shopping, people do not buy stuff just because the prices are low. They need to see a wide range of products before selecting the right one. Free shipping is one of the highly motivating factors that encourage consumers to buy products online.
