When you are moving into a new office space, things can be daunting or too dull for the first few days. Most of your time will be spent in understanding the work, meeting new bosses, and soaking in the work culture. You would perhaps be given less work initially to help you settle down or you may be not given any work at all as some offices believe in giving their employees a little “honeymoon period” before they get their hands full of responsibilities.
Here are some tips that will ease you into the office and make you more comfortable with the space you will be spending most of your time at.
l Give a Personal Touch:
When you pull along a photograph of yourself or your loved ones to your office table, you bring a personal touch to you work. It will make the new space more bearable than you can imagine; because when you see a familiar thing at a new place, it suddenly becomes somewhat familiar.
l Make Friends with Other Employees:
It may sound like a no-brainer because everybody knows making friends is a vital part of office. But how do you start? Try the water cooler, or the canteen. People here are generally in a relaxed mood and you wouldn’t be disturbing them in the midst of something important. You can start by introducing yourselves and asking for their work profiles. The little chit-chats are beginnings for more familiarization.
l Explore Outside your Office:
You don’t have to keep yourself within the office premises unless your office has such rules. During lunch hours, you can go out and explore eateries nearby. In India, almost outside every office there is a sort of a food joint or “adda” where people go to have snacks or lunches. You can ask people you meet at the water cooler for such places too.
l A Little Candy Comes in Handy:
Keep some candy in your drawer. While they will help you focus more and relax during a strenuous period, you can also offer them to anyone who comes to your desk.
l Add Some Inspiration:
Your office is a place where you work your towards your aspirations. Get yourself some inspirational posters and wallpapers as a reminder to pull up your socks whenever you slack.
And when you are at it, why not make your space a little more hep with something cool office accessories, may be a brand new pen stand? Or a card holder? It’s completely up to your creativity. You can buy office accessories online in India from Arttdinox.
