Cyanocobalamin is also known as Vitamin B12 and it is an essential part of our bodies for a multitude of reasons. We consume B12 or Cyanocobalamin every day in our diets as long as we eat healthy and it has many benefits that range from improved cellular maintenance to relief from fatigue. If you have ever had an energy drink, you will notice that B12 is one of the things they add on top of the caffeine that you are consuming. But the question is, what other benefits do you receive from Cyanocobalamin other than energy?
The Many Benefits of Cyanocobalamin
There are many benefits that you receive from having a healthy amount of Cyanocobalamin in your system. It isn’t only limited to the maintenance of cells or fatigue relief, it also helps with the formation of DNA, improves high cholesterol, helps with sickle cell disorder, improves Alzheimer’s, improves both pernicious and megaloblastic anemia, as well as breast cancer. Cyanocobalamin is part of the vitamin B complex family and is processed during digestion from proteins in our bodies.
An example of the cellular maintenance that B12 is an important factor in is the repair, maintenance, and formation of red blood cells. These cells are essential for carrying oxygen and other nutrients throughout our bodies. Without these cells, every part of our body would begin to ache, suffocate, and eventually die. Another cell that is dependent on B12 is our nerve cells which help us to feel touch and other nervous reactions, without B12 our nervous systems would fall apart.
Formation of DNA
The formation of DNA is essential as it occurs every time a cell divides. Without B12 in our daily diet, the DNA wouldn’t form and could cause abnormal cellular formations called megaloblasts. These abnormal cells are one major cause of anemia. Having a fair amount of B12 in our daily diet is a great way to prevent this from occurring.
When trying to lower your cholesterol, Cyanocobalamin helps to control the levels of triglycerides in your system. This also helps the heart function properly. Some doctors even encourage their patients to take B12 supplements to assist in lower their cholesterol and help get the triglycerides in check.
Physicians will ask that some of their patients take B12 or Cyanocobalamin supplements to help protect their bodies from endothelial damage caused by sickle cell anemia. It is considered an important component in the health of these anemia sufferers as sickle cell is caused by scythe shaped cells that are abnormally formed within the body. These cells do a lot of damage and can be hard to control without proper care.
It has been discovered that Alzheimer patients have lower amounts of B12 in their systems with promotes the confusion and cognitive degeneration caused by Alzheimer’s. Though the addition of Cyanocobalamin into the systems of these patients has no visible effect, it can be used as a preventative measure. Anemia and Breast Cancer are also seen as being caused by a deficiency in Cyanocobalamin or B12.
As with anemia, B12 is an important part of treatment as well as a preventative measure, Breast Cancer is not helped with B12 after it has been discovered but instead B12 is suggested for prevention.
